moments of sweetness

Today, I sat in my living floor surrounded by papers that needed to be graded.
To my left, my husband and baby girl giggled and rolled in the floor.
In front of me, my son played angry birds and explained each move he made to me.
And it was all I could to fight back the tears.
And if I could freeze time and hold them right there, maybe I would, just for a little while.

Life happens so fast, and we rarely take time to pause and enjoy.
The worries of tomorrow can wait.  The laundry, the vacuuming, the dishes, will forever be there.  My house doesn't have to be perfectly clean.
These moments will come and go so quickly. For in a moment, my son will be arguing or not listening, and my baby girl will be crying for food or sleepiness.  And my husband will think of something he needs to do.

But in this moment of sweetness, there is nothing else but each other.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. ~Matthew 6:34

  3. This is so true, Karrie. As my kids are 49 and 51 years of age now I look back and wish I could relive just a day of when they were little. I can't believe how fast the time has flown and continues to fly. I'm glad you're realizing it now and making the most of it.
Thank you for sharing on Spiritual Sundays.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte

  4. Hi Karrie, I stopped over from Spiritual Sundays.
I think I've been more aware over the past year or so of the moments that I will miss if I don't let the other "stuff" wait. I will never look back and wish I'd cleaned more, but I will look back and wish I hadn't been too busy for the moments that are gone.
    Thanks for the reminder.
    In Christ,
    Laura

  5. Love it. Great picture! This has been one of the most life-transforming things I have learned in the past year--living in the moment. :)

  6. Lovely. You are right, we must gather up those moments of sweetness, store them up in our hearts. If we don't, we won't have the nourishment for the hard times.

Don't miss the sweet times. They make for memories as life goes on.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 Leave me some honey.
