What A Friend

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
This week started with a phone call early on a Monday morning about two ladies that are very near and dear to my heart.  One had fallen and was in the hospital needing shoulder surgery and one was not expected to live through the day.  It has been filled with heartaches since, depressing/heartbreaking news about students, the passing of my dear friend.

But it has not all been bad news.  I am attending a new bible study at a different church lead by a friend and teacher I work with.  Owen constantly keeping me on my toes.  Yesterday, he came in with dirty, dirty hands and wanted to play the Wii.  I said not till you wash your hands.  He goes and washes his hands and doesn't dry them.  He comes in the living room and I said you can't play the Wii with wet hands, you can't get the remote wet.  He looked at me with those eyes that let me know he getting ready to enlighten me and says momma you mean its not waterproof.  ugh...it is only going to get worse and he is only five.  I got to see some of my best friends on Monday night at a friends house.  And we got out early yesterday for rain/snow/sleet.

We just have to remember through the good and the bad to take our needs/thoughts/concerns/thanksgiving/burdens to the Lord in prayer!

  2. wow, if it isn't one thing it is another....trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding is what came to my mind when you listed all the trials of your week. Hang in there!

  4. That is one of my favorite hymns. What a great reminder of something I don't do often enough.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 Leave me some honey.
