demons

halloween is coming and i'm not sure how much you get into it
i'm not a fan
i don't do scary  - movies, decorations, costumes - nope not for me
as i tell my students life is scary enough with adding to it
i do like fall stuff though
pumpkins are pretty

we studied the story of Jesus casting out the demons today
its right out of horror movie i think
Matthew 8:28 - 34  (also written in Mark 5 and Luke 8)

When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.  “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”   Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.  The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.  Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.

demons, graveyards, pigs
the question becomes do believe in demons

my belief is that demons are REAL
and everyday we fight a spiritual battle
they come in tv, music, money, sickness
and sometimes i wish Jesus would cast them to the pigs
another belief I have is that they work extra extra hard on Sundays
i'm not sure what happens at your house on Sunday mornings
but for the life of me i can't figure it out
arguments, lateness, excuses, something always getting in the way
of church, worship, Jesus

but we fight
we believe
we pray
and
JESUS WINS!

James 2:19
You believe that there is one God. Good!
Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

your thoughts on this story?

  1. It does make one wonder, doesn't it? :) We lead our choir and so we are often leaving two hours ahead of church...that helps a great deal.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 Leave me some honey.
