on being a tree

 5 Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
    who draws strength from mere flesh
    and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

Guilty.....how often I depend on others, myself, the world....to bring me though...

That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
    they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
    in a salt land where no one lives.

I've been in the desert of life...screaming where is the water, Lord....

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
    and never fails to bear fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:5-8
But finding comfort in Him is the only way to get out of the desert, to stop the trust of the world, who always lets us down, and to be a tree of life for the Lord.
One who stands tall and firm and rooted in the Lord and His word, one that is always green and has no worries.
Oh, to be so strong.

  1. Dear Karrie
    We are all guilty of trusting ourselves to some degree. I have found that only through suffering do we learn to trust our Lord. He teaches us with so much patience how to draw deep into His life and drink freely mo enrpt to moment from His living waters of grace. Found you at Emily's.
    Much love XX

  3. I love this portion of scripture, the words have such distinct imagery. And this is normal, relying on others, getting off balance, and then righting ourselves through repentance, admitting our failure. And He's always willing to forgive. Thankfully.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 Leave me some honey.
