insights from a daughter of the King, teacher, farmer's wife, and Mommy

10.19.2011

here lately

I have so much to tell you.....

Maybe you read perfect , my son Owen refused to color all summer, to the point of flying crayons, rolling in the floor, the full blown whole tantrum, all because I said"Will you color this picture for me?"  Well, he started Kindergarten this fall, and I'll be honest I was scared to death.  He's going to fail kindergarten because he won't color.  And I prayed "Lord please let him learn to just like it a little bit."  Funny how we limit God.  He is so big, so wonderful!  I thought this is a silly thing to pray about, but you know its not.  The bible says pray without ceasing, pray about everything, bring the little things to Me and I will make them big.

Last week, Owen says "Mom, I want to be an author. No, the other one." Me "An illustrator?"  Owen "Yes, an illustrator, you be the author, I'll be the illustrator.

and an artist is born

my students are thankful, which makes going to work worth it
we don't do if for the money
we don't do if for the fame, glory, or honor
we do it for the kids - that is and will always be the only reason it is worth it

my house is a mess
baby stuff
school stuff - owen's and mine
hunting gear
coats are coming out and laying out
soccer stuff
laundry
dishes

addie grows
over night i think

my prayer lately
"Here I am, Lord send me"
we will see

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
~Isaiah 6:8

  1. I am so lucky to have not only one, but two works of art by owen the illustrator! It really was one of my favorite birthday gifts and after reading this post I now have a reminder to never give up, keep praying!

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 Leave me some honey.
